The Role of Domain-Specific Vocabulary in Mathematical Performance


讲座内容

       This talk synthesizes a series of empirical studies—including meta-analyses and randomized controlled interventions—to investigate the role of mathematics vocabulary in mathematical performance. Drawing from both U.S. and Chinese samples, the presentation examines how mathematics vocabulary contributes uniquely and interactively to students’ conceptual and procedural understanding, with a particular focus on word-problem solving and fraction instruction. Evidence will be presented from meta-analytic structural equation modeling, school-based interventions, and aptitude-by-treatment interaction analyses. The findings underscore the central role of MV in higher-order mathematical tasks and offer implications for vocabulary instruction targeting students with mathematics difficulties.

报告人简介

       林鑫,博士,现任澳门大学教育学院助理教授、博士生导师,毕业于美国德克萨斯大学奥斯汀分校特殊教育专业。其研究聚焦于数学学习困难、学习困难学生的干预策略,以及人工智能在特殊教育中的应用。近年来,林博士以第一作者和通讯作者身份在《Review of Educational Research》《Educational Psychology Review》《Child Development》《Journal of Learning Disabilities》等国际权威期刊发表SSCI论文四十余篇,研究成果在国际特殊教育领域具有广泛影响。
